Located in Gangtok the capital of Sikkim, the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) is a constituent unit of Sikkim Manipal University and was established in 1997. SMIMS is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and affiliated with the Sikkim Manipal University. Providing students with UG and PG courses, the college also provides students with other degrees like MD, MS, and nursing.

Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) offers 100 seats for the MBBS program. The admission process for the MBBS program is conducted through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The selection of candidates is based on the NEET score and the eligibility criteria set by the college and the regulatory authorities.
